BIPOC authors book lists
On this page you will find booklists based on our episode genres, featuring works by BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, & People of Colour) authors. These lists were researched by our hosts, and are presented here to help our listeners and colleagues diversify both their own reading and their readers’ advisory.
Books alone – reading them, purchasing them, suggesting them – will not dismantle white supremacy (read further thoughts on this here and here). But in the white-centric worlds of publishing and librarianship, it’s just one area to be aware of bias and actively try to counteract it – we want to interrogate what’s on our shelves and what we’re putting into the hands of readers.
